Forward Thomas Rutsito (F) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked NC Zebras, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 3.
The player had a double-double of 16 points and 20 rebounds, while his team edged out L.Pride (#2, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 71-69. It allowed NC Zebras to consolidate first place in the South African BNL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and NC Zebras won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Rutsito just recently signed at NC Zebras and just after two games he already turned to be a very valuable addition to the team. Thomas Rutsito has solid league stats. He leads league in rebounds with 16.0rpg. Rutsito is in league's top in and averages impressive 4.0bpg and 4.5spg.
The second best player in last round's games was Graci Kibikiabo (F) of league's second-best M.Rhinos. Kibikiabo had a very good evening with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. Bad luck as M.Rhinos lost that game 65-71 to KZ Marlins (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Kibikiabo is one of the most experienced players at M.Rhinos and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.0ppg (#7). He also registered 7.5 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was center Liam Reid-Laynes (C-98) of league's top team KZ Marlins. Reid-Laynes scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds. He was a key player of KZ Marlins, leading his team to a 100-49 easy win against #2 ranked M.Rhinos in a game of the week. KZ Marlins has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Reid-Laynes also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Reid-Laynes has a very solid season. In 2 games in South Africa he scored 12.0ppg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
